The conference is scheduled from 08:30 on Monday 29 August – 18:00 on Thursday 1 September. There will be technical tours on Friday 2 September which can be booked via the registration form.


All authors must register and pay by 31 May. Failure to register by this date will result in the abstract being withdrawn from the programme and not being published in the book of abstracts. Registration for the discounted rate conference fee must be received by 30 June 2016. The fee without the discount is £575/£285 for members and £635/£350 for non-members.
At the venue the cost for members will be £625/£310 and £690/£375 for non-members. Day Delegates attending without the discount - members £295 or £315 at the venue, and for non-members £360 or £390 at the venue.


Acompanying persons can look forward to an excellent progamme of tours. Discount applies to registration by 30 June. The fee without the discount is £280 and £305 at the venue. Further details on the accompanying persons programme - please contact


Sunday 28 August
A one-day workshop on Writing and Presenting Scientific Papers.

Monday 29 August Evening
“A Taste of Ulster” in St Georges Victorian covered market.  There will be food, drink, music and a livestock show.

Tuesday 30 August Evening
City Hall Reception followed by a treasure hunt around Belfast city pubs as part of the “Prof in a Pub” event (18 years or over).

Wednesday 31 August Evening
The Titanic Experience: included are exhibition tour, fantastic food, drink and networking at the world famous Titanic Belfast, where the Titanic was built.

Thursday 1 September Evening Visit
Atlantic Heritage – Principal sponsors (Devenish Nutrition Ltd) will host an evening visit and reception to their Research and Heritage Farm situated in the beautiful the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bru na Boinne,Boyne Valley, north of Dublin. The visit will cover the latest industry developments supporting the sustainable intensification of food production. Availability limited to the first 150 delegates who sign up. Transport will be available on to Dublin airport or back to Belfast. Please note that if travelling from outside the EU to Belfast (UK) and Dublin (Republic of Ireland), you may need both a UK and an Irish visa.


Friday 2 September
If there is sufficient interest technical tours will be arranged for Friday 2nd September to visit a variety of businesses, farms and research facilities:

Dairy/Beef Study Tour
Delegates will visit award winning dairy and suckler-beef farms, both located on the beautiful Ards Peninsula, a short distance from Belfast.

Pig/Poultry Study Tour
Northern Ireland has a number of bespoke pig and poultry, industry-driven, research and development facilities.

Equine Study Tour
The equine study tour will include visits that profile native horse breeds, horses and tourism, aging and end of life, management of stable horses, ergonomics and equipment.


We accept payment using the following credit cards: Visa (credit and debit), Mastercard (credit and debit) , Maestro, Solo and Amex or you may prefer to pay by cheque, made payable to BSAS. JCB cards are not accepted. Online payment is in GBP. Cheques must be drawn on a UK bank. Presenting authors of accepted abstracts:

  • Before or on May 31, 2016: Full refund of the registration fee, (£50 ) handling fee
  • After 31 May: No refund

Other participants:

  • Before or on June 30, 2016: Full refund of the registration fee (less £50 handling fee)
  • After June 30 - July 31, 2016: 50 % of the registration fee
  • After July 31, 2015: No refund


BSAS will not be held responsible for any loss or damage of personal items of the delegates, accompanying persons, or exhibitors or injury.


Delegates are responsible for their own insurance including health insurance and visas. We can provide letters of invitation but cannot help get visas. Please note that if travelling from outside the EU to Belfast (UK) via Dublin (Republic of Ireland), you may need both a UK and an Irish visa.
